The Contest: Write a 100 word Halloween story appropriate for children using the words candy corn, monster, and shadow.
MONSTER MARATHON
The All Monster Marathon runners were queued,
but one of the racers was bitterly booed.
“You’re only a cookie of miniature size,
a gingerbread man with sweet candy corn eyes.
You’re sure to be trampled and crushed into dust,
a fine grit for making a gingerbread crust.”
A goblin announced, “On your marks, get set, GO!”
The gingerbread man took a tumble. Oh, NO!
Left in the shadows, he quickly regrouped,
then shot like a rocket. He looped and he swooped.
The gingerbread man won that Halloween race.
And still, to this day, he enjoys a good chase.
